ABOUT US
Carnaby Fair is a cultural branding firm that empowers local artists by providing them with commercial opportunities and platforms to showcase their work. The firm specializes in creating innovative marketing campaigns and brand activations for corporate clients and multinational corporations (MNCs), blending artistic expression with strategic branding. Additionally, Carnaby Fair is dedicated to community building through city-wide public initiatives, fostering cultural vibrancy and collaboration among government entities and public sectors. By championing the local arts scene, the firm plays a vital role in connecting artists, brands, and communities.

OUR ORIGIN
Founded in 2019 and inspired by the avant-garde culture of Carnaby Street in London, CARNABY FAIR has a simple aspiration: to make Hong Kong creative. We are a cultural collective dedicated to gathering and nurturing local talents, helping them reach new heights.
Our work and exhibitions primarily target the rising generations—Gen Z and Millennials—utilizing slang, cultural appreciation, and inclusive experiences. Gen Z is characterized by their independence and community-driven approach, seeking authentic shows with meaningful intentions. Our exhibition curation intentionally embraces a chaotic style to foster raw and “real” experiences.
Younger consumers are increasingly drawn to thrifting, exclusive drops, and supporting local niche brands, driven by a more socially and environmentally conscious mindset. Gen Z has even been dubbed the activist generation, reflecting their commitment to change and authenticity.

OUR MISSION
Deeply rooted in Hong Kong culture, we have remained true to our ethos throughout the years.
By Artist, for Artists
Carnaby Fair's primary mission is to uplift underrepresented artists in Hong Kong by providing them with a platform to showcase their artistry and gain lasting public exposure. Through a diverse array of commercial opportunities, artists can enhance their portfolios and ultimately profit from commissions and sales. A notable example is Mr. Yim (Yim Chiu-tong), known as The Plumber King. Carnaby Fair invited Mr. Yim to participate in the inaugural SUBXTURE exhibition in 2021, marking his debut as an iconic graffiti artist, originally known for his spontaneous street paint advertisements. Mr. Yim sold his first art piece for $6,500USD and gained attention from several leading local media outlets.
To date, Carnaby Fair has proudly supported over 200 local artists by offering opportunities both in Hong Kong and internationally. This includes facilitating artist-in-residence programs abroad, co-organizing contemporary exhibitions, managing artist showcases, and orchestrating collaborative art installations with multinational corporations, businesses, and the public sector.

SUBXTURE | Flagship Exhibition Celebrating Hong Kong Subcultures
Originally known as SUB9TURE, SUBXTURE was first held in 2021 at a boutique art gallery during the COVID-19 lockdown, a time when Hong Kong desperately needed creative and individual expressions. This annual flagship exhibition showcases works that are 100% local—a culmination of Hong Kong's subculture that goes beyond a simple mix and match. It was recognized as the best exhibition to visit in 2022 by both Tatler and Vogue HK.
(X) represents infinite possibilities. This exhibition gathers a diverse group of local artists, showcasing a variety of street cultures and collaborating with well-known brands to transform this idea into one-of-a-kind art installations. The resulting works not only present the artistic ideas of the younger generation through the unique lens of Hong Kong’s subculture but also incorporate the collective memory of the Hong Kong people.

Brands Collaboration & Creative IP
Carnaby Fair is dedicated to supporting local artists by offering them with unique opportunities to collaborate with world's biggest brands. A notable example is the collaboration between local Hong Kong pop artist Ernest Chang and McCafe. This collaboration resulted in a one-of-a-kind experiential installation for McCafe, an honourable mention was marking McDonald's first-ever commissioned art piece globally. It truly was a cultural milestone and an incredible example to all the local artists in Hong Kong.
This achievement not only highlights the artistic talent within the local community but also underscores the significance of such collaborations in elevating both the artists and the global brand. Through initiatives like this, Carnaby Fair fosters an environment where creativity thrives and local artists gain invaluable exposure on an international scale.

Art and Design Education
Carnaby Fair actively partners with local schools and institutions to facilitate creative education and innovative school programs, aiming to shape the future of design thinking and artistic development by positioning itself as a knowledge hub. The organization hosts high-quality digital talks, educational programs, and design research insights for NGOs, institutions, and schools.
In 2023, Carnaby Fair launched "Think Beyond Boundaries," a pioneering social-business-school art exhibition designed to promote design thinking, co-create imaginative spaces, and transform obstacles into opportunities during and after the pandemic. This initiative, led by Pui Kiu College in collaboration with CHICKS, design groups, and social welfare organizations, took place at K11 Art Mall and was recognized as a satellite event of the Hong Kong Business of Design Week (BODW) CityProg. It also received acknowledgment and support from the Hong Kong Design Centre and the HKSAR's "CreateHK" initiative.
